Live @ Lunch
Live @ Lunch is a daily showcase of live music. The show airs weekdays from noon to 1:00 and features local and touring musicians from diverse musical styles. Live @ Lunch is 100% LIVE and contains no pre–recorded interviews and no second takes!
The show is hosted by a KRFC volunteer. The host introduces the artist/group and controls the flow of the show. There is a combination of live music and chit–chat between the host and artist/group. A few CD tracks may be played, but the focus is on the live, in-studio performance. The exact mix of these elements depends on the artist/group and host. Audio engineering is also done by a KRFC volunteer.
In early 2009, Live @ Lunch began podcasting one show per week. Now you can listen to Live @ Lunch anytime you want! Vist our podcast page to subcribe.
Volunteer for Live @ Lunch
Live @ Lunch is produced by KRFC volunteers. There are four Live @ Lunch sub committees - Hosts, Outreach, Tech/engineering and Office Support. The whole group meets the first Wednesday of the month at local music establishments or the station. Sub Committees meet as needed. Operational decisions are made in the whole group with recommendations from the committees.
Volunteer hosts and techs are trained through a mentoring program with existing volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering for Live @ Lunch, contact our Volunteer Coordinator at the station.
FAQ
- How can I get on Live @ Lunch? Fill out and submit the Artist/Group Information Form.
- How are the groups scheduled? Groups are scheduled by the Live @ Lunch Booking crew with assistance from the Music Director, Office Manager, and the Live @ Lunch committee. Groups are scheduled “first come, first served”. Live @ Lunch is generally booked at least six weeks in advance. If you have limited schedule availability, please schedule early!
- What kind of music does Live @ Lunch feature? Live @ Lunch features diverse styles of music. Music styles include folk, bluegrass, jazz, rock, hip-hop, reggae and others. Most groups have one to five performers. We cannot accommodate music that is too loud, too hard or too heavy.
-
What are the production facilities like?
The studio for Live @ Lunch is 11’x17’ total; usable space for musicians is 10.5’x11’ plus
a little room to the side of the host's desk. The size of group depends on the size of the instruments/amps. A
five–piece band with drums is very cozy (and loud) in the studio. There is a 16-channel snake which leads to a
mixer in the adjacent control room. The program is mixed, broadcast, and recorded 100% live!
For a list of our equipment, see our Live @ Lunch Technical Information. - When do we need to be there? Groups and solo artists should arrive at the studio at 11:00. Groups with four or more people, or complex sound requirements are advised to arrive at 10:30. The time required for your group will be determined when the group is scheduled.
- When can I make a repeat appearance? We invite you to come back six months after you perform on Live @ Lunch. This gives the tremendous number of musicians, both local and nationally touring, the chance to perform on Live @ Lunch.
- Are the shows available to download? Do you podcast? Yes! We began podcasting 1 show per week in early 2009. To download select shows or subscribe to our podcast, vist the KRFC podcast page. At the moment, we are only able to make 1 show available per week.
