KRFC Programming

Specialty Music Shows and Music Mix Shows
Most specialty music shows are two hours in length and are scheduled weekly. Music specialty shows are genre specific (The Long Acre: celtic music, Runaway Fiddle: fiddle music , House Rent Party: blues), but KRFC is open to all unique and interesting show concepts. Some shows rotate programmers (Rocky Mountain Breakdown is hosted by four programmers). Programmers like to share their passion for a particular strain of music with all of our listeners. At KRFC, we want as many different voices on air as possible.
KRFC airs t music mixes each weekday. The Morning Music mix has a “goosed–up” rootsy sound; the afternoon mix is more free form, but tends toward rock. We always need programmers who can demonstrate a broad base of musical knowledge and have a charming on-air presence. Programming diverse music is not easy and we do have high standards for our mix shows because they are our signature sound, a mix of all the music specialty shows we air.
Public Affairs
Local public affairs programming is diverse at KRFC. Shows are usually half an hour or an hour in length and air weekly. We look for talk shows, call-in shows, political shows, arts and cultural shows — the sky’s the limit.
Live @ Lunch
Live@Lunch is a daily showcase of live music. The show airs weekdays from Noon to 1:00 and features local and touring musicians from diverse musical styles. The show is scheduled, produced, hosted and engineered by KRFC volunteers.
