Volunteer Opportunities

KRFC Volunteer Opportunities

KRFC has over 400 volunteers, with over 150 on the air. There are many ways to volunteer at KRFC. If you have any questions please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, at 970.221.5075.

Here are some of our current volunteer needs.

Music and Public Affairs Programmers

KRFC is always accepting submissions for substitute programmers as well as ideas for new and inventive shows. If you think you have what it takes to become a KRFC Programmer, then you should submit a programmer demo! We provide equipment training and mentoring to help you put together a quality show.

Live @ Lunch

We need help with one of our signature shows Live @ Lunch! Live @ Lunch airs each weekday at Noon and features a new band performing LIVE in the KRFC studios. The Live @ Lunch Committee meets at 6:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month at ‘Road 34′ bike bar. The Live @ Lunch team needs:

Hosts

Individuals to direct the show and interview the artist or band. Interest in music a must and a good announcing voice and outgoing personality a plus!

Sound Technicians

Live @ Lunch Sound Techs are responsible for audio setup hooking up the microphones and instruments of the performers and engineering the sound mix for the show. They also create a CD for the artists after the show. Technical know–how and experience with audio engineering is preferred, but we will train the right individuals with an “ear” for music and a passion for learning.

Outreach and Administrative Support

We are always looking for new and established artists to perform of Live @ Lunch, and that means someone has to go out and find them! Live @ Lunch Outreach Volunteers go to Open Mics and other music venues, preview CD submissions and help with the scheduling and booking. This position is a great match for someone who may not have his or her day free, but still wants to help the show.

Marketing and Fundraising

The Marketing and Fundraising team helps with Memebership Drives and special events, like the KRFC Birthday Bash and Resolution Run, and ensures that the community is kept informed about the radio station. No marketing experience is necessary but interest and enthusiasm in the following areas would be very helpful.

  • Writing experience (press releases, newsletter, promos, etc)
  • Graphic Design
  • Project Planning
  • Community Outreach (staffing booths, distributing flyers…)

Administrative Support

These good people help us keep our office running smoothly and with a smile. They chat with people who stop by for a visit, answer the telephone and provide critical administrative support for the entire station. Administrative tasks include filing, copying, organization and data entry. Any help in this area is greatly appreciated.
