This week KRFC is sharing two groups that herald the Centennial State in their work. Head over here for our second share of the day.
Although they’ve been a rising band to watch for a couple of years, I didn’t get my first live taste of Bop Skizzum until they performed a lunchtime set in downtown Ft. Collins at the 2012 Colorado Brewers’ Festival. Their energy was off the charts, especially considering they had to pack it all up and head home to Denver for another show that night. From that stage the band went on to release a new album, “Coloradical” in October. I had to ask the band how 2012 went for them and what’s on their horizon:
2012 was a great year for Bop Skizzum, not only did they make it into the finals of Ford’s ‘Gimme The Gig” contest where they got to perform live infront of Grammy Award winning producer Don Was; But they recorded & released their first full length album “Coloradical” in October, a 10 song CD with influences from all corners of the record store. Both music fans & critics alike have given incredibly positive reviews of the new album & sales of the CD continue to grow each month.
In 2013 the band plans to continue to play live, tour & continue writing new songs. Nothing fufills the members of Bop Skizzum more than when they are on stage & can look out & see a room full of fans dancing & having a great time at their show! So they are looking forward to getting out there & making some people get funky on the dance floor! First up, #NerdProm2013 – which is right around the corner.
Chances are you’ve already heard many excellent tracks from “Coloradical,” including today’s share. If you haven’t bought the album, you are leaving a big hole in your Colorado music collection. Get it here.
