Official invitations to KRFC’s annual meeting on December 2nd have been mailed and have already begun arriving. One of the main objectives of the annual meeting is the election of new board members. We’ll also be recognizing outstanding volunteer contributions and talking about the ‘State of the Station’ as presented by the sitting board of directors.

Following the annual meeting KRFC Presents the Inaugural John-Alex Mason Scholarship Fund Benefit – simulcast live on and 88.9FM KRFC, Fort Collins.

Candidates on the slate for this election cycle:

Kate Hawthorne has spent her career in and around the noble profession of journalism. A resident of Fort Collins since 2001, she is currently employed as staff writer at the North Forty News in beautiful downtown LaPorte. She spent the last six years with the Northern Colorado Business Report, the final two and a half as editor. Kate has volunteered with the station off and on since it went on the air, writing for Rabbit Hole Radio in the early days, and answering phones. She hopes to bring her in-depth knowledge of the local business community and communications skills to the KRFC board.  Kate is married to Bill Jeracki, partner in Orthotic Prosthetic Solutions Inc. in Fort Collins.

Liz started her professional career as singer in her hometown of New Orleans at the age of 17 and soon after started writing and recording original music.  Liz moved to Fort Collins in December of 1987 and found an enthusiastic audience in the region.  Liz has released three CDs of her original music and is included on several other artists’ CDs as a guest performer.  Over the course of her career, Liz has toured extensively in the US and has been the opening act for many of her musical heroes.  Liz lived in Nashville for two years and immersed herself in the songwriting scene while there.   She returned to Fort Collins in 2008 and is semi-retired from touring.  Liz’s love of live musical performances led her to create Mudhead Music, which serves as a record label, booking agency and promotes concerts and events in Colorado, including all events for Grant Farm in 2010.  In 2011, Liz was on the staff of Bohemian Nights at New West Fest focusing on Artist Relations and Hospitality.  Liz is in the process of recording her 4th CD and has plans for a 2012 release.   She loves to write, record, and perform and will continue to do so until she is no longer physically able.

Jesse McConnell is an Audit Manager with the firm of Sample and Bailey, CPA’s.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – emphasis in Accounting from Washburn University.  Prior to relocating to Fort Collins, Jesse spent twelve years in public accounting and two years as a CFO of a regional retailer.  He has experience with a variety of client industries including not-for-profit, retail, financial institutions and construction.  He is the former Chairman of the Finance Committee for Habitat for Humanity in Las Vegas.

Shane began promoting concerts while at the University of Iowa and has over 10 years of experience in the music business. He has promoted a wide range of events from large rock performances to family shows. After years of promoting events in Peoria, Illinois, he relocated to Fort Collins in 2008, where he currently serves as the Manager of Music Events for Bohemian Nights. He is passionate about live music and has attended hundreds of live shows both as a fan and as an event producer.
