Husband and wife oil painters David Heskin and Aloria Weaver collaborate on all aspects of art and life. Well known in the world of Visionary Art, the two have each been painting for over twenty years.
Visionary Artist Alex Gray (owner of MicroCoSM Gallery in New York City, where they have shown their work) describes the genre as one that “encourages development of our inner sight. To find the visionary realm, we use the intuitive inner eye: The eye of contemplation; the eye of the soul. All the inspiring ideas we have as artists originate here.”
David and Aloria’s fantastical and visionary artworks depict metaphysical experiences and otherworldly vistas. The luminous color is credited to their own handmade oils and mediums, which trace their roots back to the old masters. They make use of Mischtechnik, which is a process of painting with tempera and oil glazes that was thought to be the secret method of the Italian Renaissance masters, and later revived by Viennese artist, Professor Ernst Fuchs. In fact, both David and Aloria teach Mischtechnik at the Vienna Vienna Academy of Visionary Art in Austria—the world’s first international school for Visionary Art.
They travel throughout Europe and the United States to teach and exhibit. When not traveling abroad, Aloria and David live in Loveland where they opened Luminous Flux Gallery + Studios in 2014. The gallery is open by appointment and features their original paintings, monthly art openings, private classes and figure drawing sessions.
