Trek through the Peruvian Andes to the pentatonic harmonies of Elegia Andina, where contemporary composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s family roots are clearly evident.  Across the Pond, brave the stormy Scottish seas with the young Felix Mendelssohn to explore the lonely Isle of Staffa in his Hebrides Overture (Fingal’s Cave).  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s European travels provided inspiration for his music.  Max Soto-Sibaja, FCS’ own principal oboist, will give us a tour of Oboe Concerto in C, which Mozart wrote for a treasured friend in Salzburg.  Our final stop in Vienna features a romp through Ludwig van Beethoven’s lively and upbeat Symphony No. 8.
